Happy New Year!
As 2016 draws to a close, 2017 marks another bold and beautiful year. Amidst all the merry-making and connecting with friends and loved ones, are some awesome Aesthetic, Beauty and Cosmetic Dermatology trends to watch in 2017! =)
1. Pigmentation treatment
Q switched lasers have become very common, and laser facials, fast becoming part and parcel for a busy working professional. Sun exposure tends to cause freckles, sunspots (solar lentigo) and uneven skin tone. With improvements in research and technological advances, programmes can be designed and developed to overcome the challenges of pain and downtime The pico-laser, excellent for tattoo removal, is the lastest in the skin pigmentation sector.
2. Acne and clogged pore treatment
In the past, retin A was the mainstay and foundation of acne treatment. It reduces comedones, and when used consistently, was the gold standard for acne. However, Asian skin tends not to go well with retin A and the risk of skin turning red, dry and flaky is ever present.
Now, treatments with gentle peels, vacuum suction and blue light therapy are fast gaining acceptance. The key lies in killing the p. acne bacteria and unclogging the pores. Most importantly, these techniques do not cause the usual skin drying and sensitivity issues of retin A. Perfect for the busy professional.
3. Non surgical aka Lunchtime facelift
In the past, facial augmentation and lifting involves going under the knife, and the associated downtime of weeks to months. This would not do for the busy professional.
Now, combination techniques are available, combining non invasive energy based devices, HIFU, Ulthera, Thermage, with dermal fillers injection, toxin and threadlifts to enhance, lift and rejuvenate your features. These work by targeting the different layers of your skin, your dermis, SMAS, deep soft tissue compartments and facial muscles. Advaned techniques with the use of microcannulas help to reduce the common risk of pain and bruising. Hence turning back the clock, while staying absolutely natural.
Cheers to a 2017. A time for building relationships, and connecting with old friends. =)
