Hi Dr Chang, I saw in your previous post that oratane or oral medication do help in aiding acne. But can do treatment such as laser or chemical peel while I’m on oratane? Thank you and hope you can share your thoughts.

Thanks for your question Joel.
This is a very good question.
Now every skin is different. Some people can tolerate a low dose of oratane and continue with pigment laser and chemical peel treatments. These treatments are superficial, and do no ablate the skin. Deeper treatments like a full face ablative C02 lasers are contraindicated.
I hope this answers your question. Have a bold and beautiful day!

Thank you for your reply, Dr Chang. I’m glad to have a thorough comprehension about acne and treatments for it. I noticed that you are no longer working in BK clinic so where are you exactly working now? If I need a consultation etc. And I would like to know how effective chemical peel could work to remove acne scars or PIH? Is safe to use this treatment for people with sensitive skin? Thank you again.
Have a nice day ahead!

Thanks for your query Joel. Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all treatment. The type of peel, laser and microneedling technique varies from person to person. PIH is a discolouration that stems from unwanted inflmmation, causing melanin overdrive. Acne scars are due to disruption in collagen formation, leading to either skin atrophy or hypertrophy. Its best to see a doctor for a full consultation to assess your skin condition, and personalise a plan that best suits your needs. Have a bold and beautiful day! =)
