#WFH… working from home is the buzzword for SO many of us and this has led to a growth in many home based services and of course, those super convenient food deliveries. With waking up late, not having to commute and working in our PJs being the norm, I for one have noticed an unfortunate growth in the waistline category =P So yes, its time to beat the bulge and say goodbye to those unwanted fat cells.
Whats the best treatment for fat reduction in Singapore?
Have you experienced those stubborn body fat that refuses to go away despite your repeated efforts at the gym?
Have you found that no amount of dieting helps to eliminate your love handles?
Do you notice your waistline growing larger despite your best kickass exercise regime?
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. In my experience, I have come across alot of healthy people with acceptable BMI still suffer from excess body fat. It is partly due to our diet, partly due to our genes, partly due to our lifestyle.
Which is MOST EFFECTIVE for fat reduction,
Radiofrequency machines using Venus Freeze, Vanquish
Fat Freeze machines using Coolsculpting, Micool
OR Electromagnetic therapy using EMSCULPT ?
Here is the breakdown.
The Venus Freeze is a state of the art technology developed in Israel. It uses multipolar radiofrequency and pulsed magnetic fields that generate heat, resulting in skin tightening and wrinkle and cellulite reduction. It was FDA approved in 2010.
Vanquish is a contactless external radiofrequency device that uses electromagnetic waves to target your body fat only. The external skin ( epidermis, dermis) is unharmed and this has been proven by histological studies. It is a far newer technology than Coolsculpting, and has been FDA approved for permanent fat reduction since June, 2015.
EMSCULPT is the first device to build muscle and sculpt your body. Through the high intensity electromagnetic therapy procedure, one can enlarge current muscles, as well as grow new muscle fibers. The Emsculpt procedure is currently FDA cleared to treat your abdominals, buttocks, arms, calves and thighs.patients generally have less overlying fat yet desire greater muscle definition. However, if your main goal is to remove stubborn fat and you aren’t as interested in building muscle, you may be better off with CoolSculpting.
Coolsculpting and Micool are fat freeze machines. They utilise a time tested, time honoured technology of cryolipolysis to freeze your fat cells, which are then removed by your lymphatics. It is FDA HSA approved and consistently outperforms the newer sexier machines listed above.
Whats the best way to reduce stubborn fat?
In my clinical experience, nothing beats a battle hardened cryolipolysis fat freeze treatment for fat reduction. Period. For optimum results, one can combine fire and ice. Meaning a combination of heating and cooling to effectively target stubborn fat bulges. A good weight management programme would complete the picture.
Weight management entails – lifestyle and diet changes.
Diet wise, I find the intermittent fasting an extremely effective way to manage weight, and keep your metabolism and energy levels intact. The one i subscribe to is the 16/8 rule, that is fasting for 16h and eating for 8h only. =)
For Cryolipolysis, which is better, Coolsculpt or Micool from Hironic?
I find the US machine effective but it has only 1 hand piece. Micool comes with 2 hand pieces so you can freeze your stubborn fat bulges twice as fast. To busy professionals, time is everything.
HOW much does fat freeze treatment cost?
Your area of concern may require a series of 1-3 sessions, spaced a month apart for optimum fat reduction.
Most clinics would share a treatment packages. Ala carte prices start from $690 /area/ session.
Is fat freeze painful?
During the first 5-10min, you may experience a pulling sensation, as the machine sucks and holds onto your fat cells. Thereafter you will not experience anymore discomfort. At the end of the session, you will notice a red sore swelling as per area of treatment. This usually takes 1-2 weeks to heal.
What are the indications for fat freeze?
Please note these treatments do not help in weight loss. But they are pretty bad-ass when it comes to body fat reduction. Areas covered include
- Tummy, Flanks
- Double Chin
What are the clinical results?
In clinical studies, Cryolipolysis technology with Coolsculpting, Micool eliminated 20-25% of the fat cells treated.
Vanquish eliminated 25- 30% in selected cases.
Emsculpt is more effective for muscle sculpting, so these patients do not have as much body fat.
How long is each session. What is the treatment schedule?
Vanquish requires weekly treatments, on average 4- 6 times, at 45 min intervals each. This covers the entire abdomen.
Coolsculpting, Micool requires an hour session each. It covers a small area, and 6 treatment pieces are needed to cover the entire abdomen from the flanks onwards.
What are the side effects of VENUS Freeze, Vanquish vs Emsculpt vs Coolsculpting Micool?
Venus Freeze and Vanquish have little to no downtime. Both are relatively painfree. Mild transient erythema has been reported in some cases.
Emsculpt has little to no downtime. Your muscles may feel a tad sore after the treatment.
Coolsculpting leads to redness, swelling and bruising, that takes 1 -2 weeks to heal. Minority of patients experience temporary neuralgia ( nerve pain ). The process feels like a suction pulling your fat away, which can feel sore.
By contrast, Venus Freeze, Vanquish treats the entire abdominal area at once, as the device hovers above the skin without contact, providing a more even, smoother result.
Frequently asked questions 💯
What is fat freeze?✅
Fat freeze is a non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling and pressure to eliminate stubborn fat that will not shrink through diet and exercise alone. No general/topical anesthesia or pain medication is required. There is no downtime and you may resume normal exercise and activity immediately.
Results will gradually develop over 2 to 4 months following your treatment. You can achieve 25% fat reduction on average. Areas can be retreated if necessary in the future.
Do stop over the counter medications like aspirin, anti-inflammatories and fish oil supplements as these may also exacerbate bruising.
Treatment Day what do i do? 🌟
Wear comfortable, loose clothing to your appointment
You may eat prior to arrival but we recommend a light meal as rarely some patients may feel nauseated at the start of the session.
Prior to your treatment photography, measurements and weight will be taken for comparison on your follow up.
What can I Expect During the fat freeze Treatment?
The vacuum pressure may cause sensations of deep pulling, tugging and pinching in the area being treated. This sensation will subside over the first five to seven minutes of each application and for the remainder of the session should be comfortable.
Most patients experience very mild sensations; some patients experience more intense sensations at the beginning of each session but the symptoms will subside after the first 10 minutes.
After one hour the treatment for that area is completed and the device is removed.
Immediately upon removal of the device the tissue will be firm and massage is important to maximize the treatment result.
During this 3 minute process, it will feel like a deep tissue massage – uncomfortable but bearable. Immediately after the procedure the treated area may look or feel stiff, red, bruised or swollen/bloated.
You may feel a sense of nausea or dizziness as your body naturally warms and sensation returns to your treatment area.
In some patients, YOUR skin may ache or sting for a brief period of time as sensation returns to the area.
Your skin will initially be pink and some evidence of bruising may be immediately visible. The pinkness will subside over the first several hours after treatment. If you have developed bruising it may remain for up to a week following the session.
What to expect after fat freeze?
Most patients have very mild symptoms but, as with any medical procedure, each patient experiences it uniquely.
Symptoms always subside over time and have NO long lasting complications.
For most patients the symptoms are mild to moderate and often are more apparent when trying to sleep. If you are having difficulty sleeping please notify the office and prescription medications may be helpful.
You may experience:
• deep itching • tingling • numbness, soreness, or tenderness to the touch • pain or aching in the treated area • cramping or muscle spasms •
Redness, bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two. You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation or itching sensitivity in the treated area. Numbness at the site is common, resolving over 1-3 weeks. You will be able to return to your normal daily routine immediately after the procedure. It is common for the treated area to feel bloated and to look swollen for the first three weeks after fat freeze.
Compression tights such as yoga pants or Spanx may feel good to wear during this period. You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation or itching/tingling/off sensation that can last for several weeks.
4 to 10 days post fat freeze you may notice more intense sensations than during the first few days. This is due to the inflammatory response your body naturally mounts to remove the dead fat cells.
Please notify your provider if your symptoms are severe or are interfering with your ability to perform activities or sleep, or they persist beyond 2 weeks.
When Do I Expect to See Results?
Following the procedure, a gradual reduction in the thickness of the fat layer will take place. You may start to see changes as early as three weeks after and you will experience the most dramatic results after two to three months. Your body will continue to process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your procedure.
How Do I Maximize my Treatment Results?
Weight gain will prevent you from appreciating your full results. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine after your procedure can help prevent this. If you are eating more calories than you are burning off through normal activity and exercise, the extra calories will be stored as fat in other locations in your body. This is the perfect time to evaluate your eating and exercise habits and to make changes if merited to optimize your result. Avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen and Celebrex for six weeks after the treatment. The inflammatory response in your body is the mechanism which removes the fat cells and inhibiting the body’s ability to mount a response may slow the progress of your result. Schedule a follow-up medical assessment to review your clinical results and discuss the option of additional treatments to achieve desired outcome for this treatment site and other treatment sites.
So I hope this head to head comparison on the fat reduction machines in the market has been useful to you. Cheers to a slimmer you this 2021, so you can have your cake and eat it! =P
