Acne Scarring treatment in Singapore

Acne scarring – Dont be scarred by acne scars.

So many of you have asked me what is the cause of acne scars?

Acne scarring is a sequelae to acne.

We know that acne is a blockage of pores, commonly from sebum, dead skin cells, cosmetics.

This forms comedones (your whiteheads and blackheads).

During inflammation, pustules and papules ensue.

Now when these pustules rupture in the skin, the toxins released damage the surrounding dermal tissue.

Of course your skin has healing properties and attempts to repair this damage. Insufficient repair is manifested in the following scar types.

So the question is, can we treat them?

First, prevention is the key.

And that is through good skincare regime.

Remember, acne is the obstruction of pores.

  1. Cleanse to remove dirt, debris, and dead skin cells, but dont overcleanse. You dont want to irritate the skin and increase sebum production.
  2. Careful use of acne treatment products to reduce inflammation.
  3. Moisturise. You want the skin to be hydrated, otherwise the oil glands will go into overdrive.

If skincare doesnt get you on top of things, then the Carbon peel laser is the next option to keep your acne at bay.

This works to

  1. reduce oil production and bacteria inflammation
  2. shrink pores
  3. exfoliate dead skin

So once acne is under control, how do we move on to treat acne scars?

Generally, a combination of treatments is recommended. Just like when you go to the gym and pump your muscles, you do a variety of exercises to bring out the best results, so too for your skin.

What results can we expect?

Hence via laser resurfacing, Intracel RF microneedling and subcision, you can look at a 50% improvement in skin appearance over 3 months.

What is the downtime?

Generally one can expect mild redness, swelling, petechiae  up to 3 days.

So I hope this has been useful. Dont be scarred by acne scarring.
